Vibrant and empowering are words that capture the essence of Londa Larmond. Since her solo debut in 2001, this Canadian gospel treasure has faithfully maintained her calling: bringing inspirational messages of God’s love with her authoritative and commanding voice, uplifting anyone who listens.
Londa
releases her new single, GREAT GOD, since her 2011 live album
release, GREAT THINGS. With
new experiences and maturity, Londa steps back into the spotlight showcasing
her signature melodic voice, resonating in a fusion of invigorating sounds. “My
music’s purpose is to let people know that God is always with them and in the
midst of a song being sung He’s able to accomplish their heart’s desire,”
asserts Londa. “He is with us through thick and thin, and He wants and is
ready to do great and powerful things in our lives.”
Designed
to cross and transcend borders, GREAT THINGS is
a compilation of up-tempo songs, ranging from world sounds and reggae beats to
soulful ballads that soothe with powerful and penetrating lyrics. With the
African-inspired and energetic song Incredible,
listeners will be compelled to dance and delight with the rhythmic guitar
strings.
Recorded
live in Toronto, at the Evangel Temple, GREAT THINGS is
a dynamic album that is sure to become a staple in your Praise and Worship
collection.
Emboldened
with the musical production of Joel Chambers, GREAT THINGS is a testament of God’s power
manifested in Londa’s life. “I have a different perspective on what is possible
and what is God’s purpose and destiny for my life,” says Londa. “I am a
woman who is persuaded that her God is unshakable, unmovable and
unstoppable!” Londa’s ability to vocally impact hearts is profound and in
the remake of Phillips, Craig & Dean classic “You Are God Alone”, a
powerful acoustic duet with Peter Moncrieffe, Londa manages to flawlessly wrap
the sound of worship around the soul of every fan. GREAT THINGS won the Gospel Music Association for Canada Award for “Best Gospel Album of the Year 2012”. She is also
the triple-crown winner for Canada's Glass Awards for "Best Female Vocalist of the Year", "Best Gospel
Song of the Year" and "Best Gospel Album of The Year".
Without
missing a beat, in May 2014 Londa
released her studio single, "NOBODY". This song is infectious
and will definitely make even the most reserved person want to get up and
dance! While the music transcends your traditional gospel, the lyrics are
quite clear that she's talking about NOBODY, but Jesus!
Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, to loving Jamaican
parents, Ethan and Evan, Londa’s childhood is characterized by Gospel music and
service. Alongside her musician father and brothers, Londa was singing at
church since the age of 7, and performing professionally since 14, as a member
of Toronto’s renowned Youth Outreach Mass Choir. Londa continued her musical
career as part of the Gospel Soul Sisters before joining the internationally
acclaimed Sharon Riley & Faith Chorale.
Londa’s
powerful voice led her to appear in the blockbuster film, The Blues Brothers 2000. Under the direction of
John Landis, Londa performed in the film and recorded the Grammy nominated,
Certified Gold (U.S.) soundtrack alongside musical icons Aretha Franklin, Erykah Badu, James Brown, Sam Moore, Taj Mahal, Bo Diddley, Isaac Hayes, Steve Winwood and Eric Clapton. She also performed in the Tony
Award-Winning Musical Caroline or Change,
where she was nominated for “Best Female Performance in a
Musical”. Under the
direction of Robert McQueen, Londa worked alongside well-known actors, such
as, Arlene Duncan (Little Mosque On The Prairie – TV)
and Shawn Wright (Jersey Boys and Mamma Mia –
Theatre). Caroline or Change won the Dora Award for "Outstanding Production of a Musical".
And now Londa is currently touring with a new cast, from the
powerful theatrical Melody of Deception,
under the direction of Dr. Elaine Brown-Spencer.
Her
solo debut album, LOVE LETTERS, established Londa as a one of Canada’s Gospel
music trailblazers with international acclaim. A winner of the Canadian Urban Music Awards for Best Gospel
Recording, GMA Dove
Awards nominee for "Urban Album of the
Year" and a JUNO Award nominee
for "Best Gospel Album of the Year", Love Letters, introduced a new genre of
soulful-jazz and urban-pop grooves that marked the beginning of a legacy, which
Londa continues today with GREAT THINGS.
Londa
attends and serves as a worship leader at Rhema Christian Ministries in
Toronto, Canada under the leadership of Senior Pastor, Pastor Orim Meikle.
